Johor sultan calls on civil servants to declare assets annually

Sultan Ibrahim Sultan Iskandar suggests govt to study low salary scale which leads to stress

KUALA LUMPUR – All civil servants should declare their assets annually as this is one of the measures to prevent ill-gotten wealth, said Johor ruler Sultan Ibrahim Sultan Iskandar.

He also decreed that the public servants in Johor should live within their means and to avoid being involved in corrupt practices.

He added that the government can study the low salary scale of certain civil servants, as this could be a stress factor, especially in the big cities.

“Civil servants need to live within their means. Remember, any civil servant living luxuriously as a result of corruption will not escape investigation by the authorities.

“You (civil servants) are being observed. Civil servants who have luxury lifestyles would raise questions,” he said in a Facebook post today.

He also reminded Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Razarudin Husain that the authorities must not compromise with any officers found to abuse their power or involved in corruption. – October 15, 2023
