KUALA LUMPUR – The highest bid for a Rolex Oyster Perpetual Datejust II belonging to former religious affairs minister Datuk Seri Zulkifli Mohamad Al-Bakri has reached RM131,000 as of 9.25am today.

The watch, which was gifted to him by Saudi King Salman bin Abdulaziz in 2017, is being auctioned on Zulkifli’s social media platforms to raise funds in support of humanitarian aid for the Palestinians who are under bombardment by Israel.

The auction will be closed at midnight today.

Yesterday, Zulkifli said on X (formerly Twitter) that the auction for the Rolex would start at RM40,000, with each bid increasing the price by RM100.

“I’m opening this (auction) to those who are interested in bidding in the comment section.”

The former minister also shared that the watch was a souvenir gifted to him after he presented a speech as a federal territories mufti before the Saudi king.

The Palestinian death toll from Israeli bombardment in the Gaza Strip has climbed to 8,306, including 3,457 children and 2,136 women, while more than 21,048 people were injured. – October 31, 2023
