10 states set to face stormy, wet weather tonight

Thunderstorms, downpour and strong winds set to last till 9pm, says METMalaysia

KUALA LUMPUR – Ten states are to face thunderstorms, heavy rain and strong winds until 9pm today, said METMalaysia in an advisory issued at 4.55pm.

The affected states are Kuala Lumpur, Putrajaya, Selangor, Pahang, Perak, Kelantan, Johor, Labuan, Sabah and Sarawak.

“A warning is issued when there are signs of a thunderstorm with rainfall exceeding 20mm/hour, expected to persist for more than an hour,” read the advisory.

Some of the affected areas include Pahang (Cameron Highlands, Lipis, Raub, Jerantut, Bentong, Temerloh, Maran and Kuantan), Perak (Kerian; Larut, Matang and Selama; Kuala Kangsar; Manjung; Kinta; Central Perak; Kampar; Bagan Datuk; Hilir Perak; Batang Padang and Muallim).

Other affected regions include Kelantan (Gua Musang) and Johor (Batu Pahat, Kluang, Mersing, Pontian, Kulai, Kota Tinggi and Johor Bahru).

Additionally, Sabah’s rural areas (Sipitang, Tenom, Kuala Penyu, Beaufort and Tambunan), the state’s west coast, Tawau (Tawau), Sandakan (Telupid and Beluran) and Kudat along with Sarawak’s Sibu (Selangau), Kapit (Song, Kapit and Bukit Mabong), Bintulu (Tatau) and Limbang are also expected to be affected. – November 16, 2023
