[UPDATED] Social media platform X down for users globally

Downdetector shows issues started around 1.45pm Malaysian time

KUALA LUMPUR – Social media platform X and X Pro are suffering global outages that started around 1.45pm local time, according to outage tracking website Downdetector.com.

When X users try accessing their timelines, they are unable to see any posts and are only greeted with a message that says “Welcome to X!”.

As for X Pro users, they are seeing a message that said: “Waiting for posts.”

The social media platform has experienced several outages after Tesla tycoon Elon Musk spent US$44 billion to acquire Twitter in October 2022.

He then renamed it to X, changed its content policy and lost more than half of its advertising revenue.

The rollout of paid subscriptions has yet to bear fruit as less than 1% of users are signing up for its monthly premium service. This only brought in US$120 million annually.

It appears that the X timeline is back to normal at 2.44pm Malaysian time. – December 21, 2023
