KUALA LUMPUR – Amanah veterans Datuk Mahfuz Omar and Datuk Mohd Hatta Ramli have been elected as party vice-presidents for the 2023-2026 session.

Amanah secretary-general Muhammad Faiz Fadzil said that the appointments were decided during the party’s first central leadership committee meeting today, chaired by president Datuk Seri Mohamad Sabu.

Faiz, who is also the former Permatang Pasir assemblyman, said that the appointments highlight Amanah’s commitment to bettering its performance as a component member of the Madani government amid heightened political demands.

“This determination is to ensure that the government led by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim remains intact and stable to guarantee the sustainable development of the country and the prosperity of the people,” he added in a statement today.

He also said that the appointments of Amanah state chiefs would be made after party divisions nationwide are served sufficient written notice to nominate a suitable candidate for consideration by the president and the central committee.

Appointments to the committee include that of deputy secretary-general (Norhayati Bidin), assistant secretaries-general (Mohd Faizul Salleh and Ridzwan Abu Bakar), organisation secretary (Abang Mohd Kerdee Abang Masagus) and treasurer (Pandan Indah assemblyman Izham Hashim).

Besides that, Hulu Langat MP Mohd Sany Hamzan has been appointed as the party’s elections director, while former Shah Alam MP and ex-federal territories minister Khalid Samad will continue to helm the role of communications director.

Other appointments include human resources development director (Pulai MP Suhaizan Kaiat), strategy director (Ahmad Sabki Yusof) and Shariah director (Datuk Hasan Bahrom).

Following the Pakatan Harapan component party’s congress last month, Datuk Seri Mujahid Yusof Rawa was appointed deputy president, succeeding the late Datuk Seri Salahuddin Ayub who passed away in July this year.

Health Minister Datuk Seri Dr Dzulkefly Ahmad, former Kota Raja MP Dr Siti Mariah Mahmud, and Deputy Defence Minister Adly Zahari were also appointed as the party’s first three vice-presidents. – January 7, 2024
