KUALA LUMPUR – The construction of the monsoon drain in the landslide area along Jalan Wawasan in Taman Wawasan, Puchong, which commenced last week, is 9.3% complete as of today.

In a statement today, the Subang Jaya City Council (MBSJ) said the work on the monsoon drain had begun after completing the installation of steel piles to stabilise soil movement in the area.

“The work, currently underway and stretching up to 83m, will be intensified in accordance with the established work plan.

“For Phase 2, involving permanent stabilisation work through the reconstruction of the main ditch and road structure, the estimated completion time is 30 weeks from the date of the temporary repair work.

“However, this timeline is subject to weather conditions and the approval of the relevant authorities,” it said.

Meanwhile, 13 residents from nine affected houses were called for a meeting session led by Subang Jaya Mayor Datuk Mohd Fauzi Haji Mohd Yatim to provide updates on the ongoing repair works in the area.

MBSJ has relocated three families affected by the landslide to the Pertama Sari Apartment in Taman Wawasan, Puchong, Selangor.

On December 17, 29 occupants of nine terraced houses in Taman Wawasan Puchong were directed to evacuate due to safety concerns following the landslide near their houses. – January 4, 2024
