At press time, the man had been on the roof for more than 37 hours, without food or water.

The Sandakan Fire and Rescue Department had been on standby, making several attempts to rescue the man, but their efforts were futile.

It is known that the man is a resident of the Sejati Ujana Apartment but the motive behind his actions remains unclear.

The Fire and Rescue Department and police have yet to issue an official statement on the incident.

In a similar incident in 2022, a man in his 20s climbed onto the roof of the same apartment. Fortunately, he was rescued by the Sandakan Fire and Rescue Department after an hour. – February 14, 2024
