Kuala Kubu Baharu: Pang shows straight-A results for UPSR, SPM to PAS critic

Challenge from opposition likely came because their own candidate’s educational background has come under scrutiny

KUALA KUBU BAHARU – Pang Sock Tao, the unity government’s candidate for the Kuala Kubu Baharu by-election, has shared her UPSR and SPM results in response to a challenge by a PAS politician.

Her exam result slips, posted on Facebook, show her to be a straight A student.

“YB Pasir Mas, Tuan Ahmad Fadhli Shaari asked about my UPSR and SPM (results)… Here is the answer.

“I am indebted to the teachers who have taught me. A mere thank you is not enough in return for the devotion that has been poured into educating me.

“Thank you to my parents, who never neglected their children’s education,” she said today.

The result slips show her to be an alumnus of SJK(C) On Pong, Ampang Hulu Langat, Selangor and SM Chung Hua, Port Dickson, Negri Sembilan.

Pang, 31, was responding to PAS information chief Ahmad Fadhli Shaari, who had asked her to state where she took her UPSR and SPM examinations.

He also questioned whether Pang received her secondary school education at a vernacular school or not.

At the tertiary level, Pang graduated in electronics and electrical engineering from Universiti Tenaga Malaysia, in 2017, the same year she joined DAP.

Her main rival in the Kuala Kubu Baharu polls on May 11 is Perikatan Nasional’s (PN) Khairul Azhari Saut, 54, whose own educational qualifications have come under scrutiny recently.

Social media users had questioned his executive diploma in management from University of Malaya and executive Masters in business administration from University Malaysia Pahang.

PN Selangor chief Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali came to his defence, saying there was nothing unusual for Khairul, as working professionals often take shorter executive courses. – April 29, 2024
