PM directs state govt, agencies to assist Putra Heights fire victims

Fire and Rescue Department confirms 190 homes, 148 cars and 11 motorcycles were damaged in the incident

KUALA LUMPUR – Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has urged the Selangor government and relevant agencies to provide the appropriate assistance to those displaced following a gas pipeline fire in Putra Heights, Subang Jaya, this morning.

The prime minister also offered prayers for the safety and ease of all personnel involved in the incident.

“I pray for the safety and ease of all personnel in Putra Heights.

“I also urge the state government and relevant agencies to provide appropriate assistance to the displaced victims,” he said in a Facebook post today.

Meanwhile, Selangor Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) director Wan Razali Wab Ismail said a total of 190 homes, 148 cars and 11 motorcycles were damaged in the fire.

“The affected houses and vehicles sustained various degrees of damage due to the fire and intense heat,” he said in a statement today.

He added that clean-up and thorough inspection works are currently underway.

Meanwhile, JBPM Director-General Datuk Nor Hisham Mohammad said the fire, which occurred earlier this morning, saw flames reaching an estimated height of over 100 feet (30m) with temperatures reaching 1,000 degrees Celsius.

He said by 1.55pm, the fire had subsided and the radius of the fire had decreased. – April 1, 2025
