KUALA LUMPUR – PKR has rescheduled its 2024 and 2025 congresses, including those for its Youth and Wanita wings, to May 21 to 24, according to party secretary-general Fuziah Salleh.
In a statement, she said the adjustment was necessary as party president and Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim is required to carry out official state duties in conjunction with the arrival of Asean heads of state in Malaysia on May 25.
It was previously scheduled for May 23 to May 25.
The revised schedule will see the opening ceremony for the PKR Youth and Wanita congresses take place on Wednesday, May 21, followed by their respective congress sessions on May 22.
The PKR Central Leadership Elections and the official opening of the party’s annual congress will be held on May 23, while the 2024/2025 PKR Annual Congress is set for May 24.
“The 2025 National Congress will, for the first time, adopt the concept of proportionate representation for delegates, as approved during the Special Congress on December 15 last year. Preparations are progressing smoothly, and all eligible delegates will be informed soon,” she was reported as saying last month.
Fuziah added that preparations involving delegates, logistics, and overall planning will be reorganised to accommodate the new dates. She urged all involved parties to take note of the changes and make the necessary adjustments. – May 7, 2025
