KUALA LUMPUR – The Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) has launched two innovative scholarship programs designed to develop talent for Malaysia’s evolving communications and multimedia industry.
The MCMC LEGASI Scholarship and MCMC CARE Scholarship will provide extensive financial support and industry experience to help young Malaysians acquire vital skills in key fields such as telecommunications, media, regulatory policy, cybersecurity, and the Internet of Things (IoT).
This initiative marks the first time MCMC has offered scholarships, underscoring its commitment to creating a sustainable pool of skilled professionals to meet the demands of the country’s digital economy.
Both programs aim to nurture not only skilled individuals but also those ready to propel Malaysia’s digital progress.
The MCMC LEGASI Scholarship, known as the Leaders of the Next-Generation Scholarship, is a merit-based opportunity for high-achieving students pursuing undergraduate degrees in communications and multimedia at top local and international universities.
Awardees of this scholarship will receive full tuition coverage, living expenses, internship placements, and guaranteed job opportunities with MCMC after graduation. Scholars will work in important areas such as regulatory development, digital infrastructure, policy innovation, and network security while gaining training and certifications in in-demand skills.
Alongside LEGASI, the MCMC CARE Scholarship will focus on assisting talented students from underprivileged communities. This need-based program is tailored for those seeking undergraduate degrees at local public universities.
In addition to financial support for tuition and living costs, CARE scholars will have internship opportunities at MCMC, providing them with insights into regulatory functions and policy work that align with national digital goals.
Applications for both scholarships opened today and will be accepted until July 24. Updates on the application process will be shared through MCMC’s official social media channels, with successful applicants announced in August 2025.
Through these scholarship programs, MCMC aims to create structured pathways for Malaysian youth to excel, contribute positively to society, and leave a lasting impact in the fast-changing communications and multimedia sector.
The Commission’s initiatives reflect a broader strategy to enhance the nation’s digital capabilities and cultivate a new generation of leaders ready to tackle future challenges. – June 24, 2025
