KUALA LUMPUR – A total of 50,564 case items worth RM721,239 were disposed of in an integrated operation by the Brickfields District Police Headquarters today.
Brickfields District Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner Ku Mashariman Ku Mahmood, said the disposal was carried out with a court order.
“All these items were linked to various crimes, including unlicensed entertainment, prostitution, gambling, alcohol and cigarette smuggling, foreign exchange fraud, as well as cyber and commercial crimes,” he said during a press conference after the district’s second case disposal ceremony of the year.
Of the total, 108 investigation papers were handled by the Criminal Investigation Department (CID), involving 47,906 items, including RM19,633 in cash that has been credited to the Treasury.
Another 16 investigation papers under the Commercial Crime Investigation Department (CCID) accounted for 1,325 items, with a total disposal value of RM90,674.
“Among the items destroyed were mobile phones, computers, modems, forged documents, and over 1,200 pirated VCDs,” he said.
Ku Mashariman added that equipment such as computers and online gambling devices were categorised as e-waste and required systematic disposal.
To that end, the operation was carried out in collaboration with the Royal Malaysian Customs Department and the Department of Environment to ensure safe and environmentally responsible handling.
Breakdown of the CID-related cases included 33 related to entertainment and defamation, 27 gambling cases, 12 smuggling cases, two involving fake Bitcoin, and one case involving an imitation weapon.
Meanwhile, CCID disposals included 55 computers, 72 mobile phones, five modems, 15 forged documents, and 1,243 pirated VCDs.
All the items disposed of had completed the legal and trial process between 2017 and 2025. — July 25, 2025
