KUALA LUMPUR — The Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) have made 11,864 arrests in connection with 31,949 fraud cases, which collectively saw losses of RM1.5 billion in 2025.

Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail revealed that these arrests stemmed from nearly 10,000 operations conducted by the Bukit Aman Commercial Crime Investigation Department (JSJK), Bernama reported.

“This is no easy task… it’s a heavy responsibility. However, it has been carried out excellently by the police force. I stand here to acknowledge your courage in executing this duty,” he said at the closing ceremony of the Police Special Dialogue III (PDRM Special Dialogue 3) today.

Saifuddin underscored that the JSJK’s expertise not only shields the nation’s economy but also bolsters public trust in security institutions.

He also urged police officers to continue refining their skills, particularly in mastering the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) to combat crime, with an emphasis on cybercrime.

“The ministry is equally committed to enhancing the police force through infrastructure modernisation, expanding capacity, and fostering cross-sector collaboration,” he added.

In discussing the forum, Saifuddin noted that national security concerns now extend beyond physical borders to encompass issues such as data protection, digital sovereignty, and collective cyber awareness.

“One of the key takeaways was the importance of inter-agency cooperation to address the increasingly complex nature of cybercrime,” he stated.

He further highlighted the critical role of the JSJK, which remains at the forefront of the fight against commercial crime, noting that their efforts not only safeguard the nation’s economy but also increase public confidence.

The dialogue, organised by the JSJK in collaboration with the Home Ministry, Alpine Integrated Solutions, and Koperasi Polis Diraja Malaysia Bhd, gathered representatives from security agencies, technology experts, academics, and the private sector. — August 26, 2025
