KUALA LUMPUR – Four students accused of being involved in the gang rape of a female student in a classroom at a secondary school in Alor Gajah, Melaka, have been immediately expelled.
The decision was made today by the School Disciplinary Board, according to Mohd Azam Ahmad, the Director-General of Education Malaysia.
He confirmed that the students would not be allowed to sit for their Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) examinations at their school and would instead take them at designated locations.
“Permission for the suspects to sit for the SPM does not mean they will escape punishment,” he said during a press conference today.
“Their rights as students and candidates for the SPM will still be respected.”
On Saturday, four male students, who were scheduled to sit for the SPM next month, were remanded for six days after being accused of raping the female student in turn at the school in Melaka the previous week.
Melaka Police Chief, Datuk Dzulkhairi Mukhtar, stated that the remand orders for the 17-year-old suspects were issued by Assistant Registrar S R Arthana at the Ayer Keroh Magistrates’ Court to facilitate investigations.
Yesterday, Education Minister Fadhlina Sidek confirmed that the four Form Five students would still be allowed to sit for the SPM examinations on November 3, 2025.
