KUALA LUMPUR – A 14-year-old student will be charged tomorrow with the murder of Yap Shing Xuen, a Form Four student, who was fatally stabbed at a secondary school in Bandar Utama.
The Attorney General’s Chambers (AGC) confirmed in a statement that it had decided to charge the male student under Section 302 of the Penal Code [Act 574] for the offence of murder.
“After a thorough review of the investigation papers, there is sufficient grounds to proceed with the charge against the male student involved in the incident,” it said.
The charge will be presented at the Petaling Jaya Magistrates’ Court on October 22, 2025.
Earlier, the remand of the suspect was extended for another seven days, starting tomorrow.
Petaling Jaya District Police Chief, Shamsudin Mamat, confirmed that the remand order was issued this morning at the Petaling Jaya Magistrates’ Court, extending the remand until October 28, after the initial remand period expired today.
“The suspect (the male student) has had his remand extended for another seven days, until October 28,” he said.
Yap Shing Xuen was found lifeless in the school toilet on October 14, covered in blood, after being stabbed by the male student from the same school’s transition class.
Two sharp weapons, believed to have been used in the stabbing, were also recovered from the scene.
The late Yap was cremated at the Nirvana Crematorium in Shah Alam, Selangor, yesterday. – October 21, 2025
