DAP Sabah unveils candidates for upcoming state election

Seven candidates, including three new faces, set to contest in the 17th Sabah state election on Nov 29

KUALA LUMPUR – DAP Sabah has revealed the names of seven candidates who will stand in the upcoming 17th Sabah state election.

According to Borneo Post, the party’s candidates include Philip Yap for Sri Tanjong (N69), Jannie Lasimbang for Kapayan (N25), Vivian Wong Shir Yee for Elopura (N55), Phoong Jin Zhe for Likas (N19), Chan Foong Hin for Tanjung Aru (N22), Chan Loong Wei for Luyang (N21), and Tan Szu Ching for Tanjung Papat (N56).

At 25, Chan Loong Wei is the youngest among the candidates.

Additionally, DAP Sabah has introduced three new faces in the election race: Chan Loong Wei, Tan Szu Ching, and Philip Yap.

It was also disclosed that an eighth candidate from rural Sabah, a woman, will be announced in the coming days.

The 17th Sabah state election (PRN) will take place on Nov 29, with early voting scheduled for Nov 25, according to the Election Commission (EC).

EC chairman Datuk Seri Ramlan Harun confirmed that nomination day will be held on Nov 15, following the official dissolution of the 16th Sabah State Legislative Assembly on October 6. – November 8, 2025
