Singapore hits Israeli settlers with sanctions over violent attacks on Palestinians

Targeted financial sanctions and entry bans are imposed on four individuals involved in extremist violence against Palestinians

KUALA LUMPUR – Singapore has announced the imposition of targeted financial sanctions and entry bans on four Israeli individuals involved in violent acts against Palestinians in the West Bank.

The measures, which take effect immediately, are directed at Meir Mordechai Ettinger, Elisha Yered, Ben-Zion Gopstein, and Baruch Marzel.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) of Singapore condemned these individuals for their involvement in “egregious acts of extremist violence” against Palestinians, which it described as unlawful and deeply damaging to the prospects of achieving a peaceful, two-state solution.

Singapore reiterated its stance on Israeli settlements in the West Bank, asserting that such settlements are illegal under international law. The country also expressed concern that the expansion of these settlements further complicates efforts to establish a viable two-state solution.

“As a firm supporter of international law and the two-state solution, Singapore opposes any unilateral attempts to alter the facts on the ground through actions that are illegal under international law,” the MFA statement said.

The Singaporean government also called on the Israeli authorities to take action against settler violence, urging the Israeli government to restrain such acts and hold the perpetrators accountable. – November 21, 2025
