KUALA LUMPUR – Sports journalist and Deputy President of the National Press Club (NPC), Haresh Deol, has rejected claims that the assault on him yesterday was related to a personal issue.

“I have no ‘personal issues’ with anyone,” he said in a post on social media platform X today.

He also confirmed that the Julang Podcast, which he co-hosts with Rizal Hashim and discusses national football and exclusive revelations, will continue as planned tonight at 9 pm.

“The show must go on,” he wrote in the X post.

The upcoming episode of Julang Podcast will focus on “Butang Reset FAM: Langkah Pemulihan Bola Sepak Negara” with an exclusive inside scoop from FAM.

Earlier, Brickfields district police chief Hoo Chang Hook was reported as saying that the motive behind the attack on Haresh was believed to be personal.

He added that the male suspect, who was arrested, is an unemployed 37-year-old.

He urged the public not to speculate further and to wait until the investigation is completed. “The suspect is unemployed, and the motive appears to be personal. The case is still under investigation, and we ask everyone to refrain from further speculation until the investigation is complete,” he said briefly.

On Tuesday, Haresh, who is also the co-founder of TwentyTwo13 news, revealed that he was attacked while walking to his car, with another individual filming the incident on their mobile phone.

In a post on X, Haresh confirmed that he had lodged a police report regarding the incident.

Following this, the police have launched an investigation to identify three men believed to be involved in the attack, which occurred on Jalan Maarof near a shopping mall parking lot while Haresh was walking along the sidewalk towards Jalan Telawi. – November 26, 2025
