KUALA LUMPUR – The Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) will lead the organisation of Safer Internet Day 2026, scheduled for February 8 at Taman Tasik Titiwangsa, as a large-scale community event promoting safe digital practices and responsible use of artificial intelligence (AI).

MCMC said in a statement that the event, held in conjunction with International Safer Internet Day, aims to raise awareness about the importance of safe, responsible, and positive Internet use, particularly among children and young people.

“Safer Internet Day is celebrated annually in over 170 countries. In Malaysia, we hope to engage families, children, and teenagers in understanding how to make informed digital choices while using technology and AI responsibly,” the statement read.

Themed “Smart Technology, Safe Choices (Responsible and Safe Use of AI)”, the programme will focus on promoting ethical and safe technology use, aligning with the demands of Malaysia’s evolving digital landscape, MCMC said.

According to the commission, visitors can expect a variety of activities, including interactive exhibitions on Internet safety, expert-led pocket talks, community engagement sessions, smart technology demonstrations, and the official launch of the 2026 Safe Internet Campaign.

The event will also feature a mini concert by local artists to make the learning experience more enjoyable for attendees of all ages.

MCMC added that the initiative is part of broader efforts to build a Digital MADANI Society—a community that is informed, resilient, competitive, and responsible in the online environment.

“Members of the public are invited to attend and participate in creating a safer online ecosystem for everyone,” MCMC said. – January 15, 2026
