KUALA LUMPUR — The Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) has launched a public consultation on the proposed regulatory framework for the Online Safety Plan (OSP), as part of the implementation of the Online Safety Act 2025 (ONSA).

In a statement, MCMC said the consultation includes the draft Risk Mitigation Code and Child Protection Code, aimed at strengthening how online platforms manage safety risks, with particular emphasis on safeguarding children, families and vulnerable groups.

“The proposed framework and draft codes outline clear expectations for service providers to take reasonable and proportionate steps to mitigate online harms in a practical and effective manner,” the commission said.

MCMC said the public consultation is intended to allow members of the public to play an active role in shaping a safer online ecosystem by providing feedback on the effectiveness and practicality of the proposed measures.

“Industry players, civil society organisations and other interested parties are encouraged to review the consultation documents and submit their views,” it added.

Written submissions can be sent to MCMC in hard copy or electronically by 5 pm on March 13.

Both consultation papers can be found at the MCMC website. February 12, 2026
