Now Caprice threatens Rafizi with legal action

Influencer says he never said things former economy minister accuses him of saying and only asked if there was a conflict of interest in UEM Lestra project

KUALA LUMPUR — Influencer Caprice wants former economy minister Datuk Seri Rafizi Ramli to  apologise and remove his social media posts criticising the influencer or face legal action.

Caprice, whose real name is Ariz Ramli, said Rafizi had until 5pm tomorrow to retract his claim that the influencer accused him of corruption involving RM2.5 billion related to a UEM Lestra solar power project.

Caprice said he never mentioned the figure in any of his posts, nor did he accuse Rafizi of corruption.

“What I asked was a reasonable question, ‘Can this be a conflict of interest? Yes or no?’ That was it,” the social media personality said at a press conference in Bangsar South, reported by Berita Harian.

“If you replay my video post 10,000 times, that’s what you’ll hear,” Caprice added.

Rafizi had threatened the influencer with legal action over his reels that highlighted Rafizi’s alleged involvement in the UEM Lestra project while he was economy minister.

In another post yesterday, Rafizi said he would answer Caprice’s allegations in detail during his podcast Yang Berhenti Menteri (YBM) tonight at 10pm.

The Pandan MP also said Caprice had “peddled slander” against him which has been repeated by others, that he had committed corruption involving RM2.5 billion.

In a previous statement to Scoop, Rafizi that neither he nor the Ministry of Economy had any involvement in UEM Lestra’s commercial decisions.

He clarified that the project was a private-sector initiative under the National Energy Transition Roadmap (NETR), a policy created by the Ministry of Economy to enable private entities to develop renewable energy projects and directly supply green power to industries, bypassing Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB).

The project, which entails a RM2.5 billion investment by UEM Lestra in Segamat, was developed in partnership with U.S. infrastructure investment firm I-Squared Capital, and the energy sale had been finalised with Hong Kong-based ESR Group Limited.

“Since when is a minister responsible for developing policy accused of misconduct over decisions made by a private company unrelated to the Ministry of Economy?” Rafizi told Scoop.

Another of Caprice’s claims was that a businessman involved in UEM Lestra had owned shares in Rafizi’s company, Invoke Solutions Sdn Bhd, thus presenting Rafizi with a conflict of interest.

Caprice today told the press conference he was willing to meet Rafizi to “make peace”. – February 20, 2026
