KUALA LUMPUR — Twelve years have passed since Malaysia Airlines flight MH370 disappeared, but for Intan Maizura Othaman, the wife of crew member Mohd Hazrin Mohamed Hasnan, not a day goes by without thoughts of him.
In a heartfelt post on her Instagram account, @intanmaizuraothaman, she said March 8 has never been just another day for her.
“Still feels like yesterday, honestly,” she wrote, reflecting on the sudden loss that continues to linger more than a decade later.
Intan said grief has taken on a different form over the years, but the memories remain ever-present in her daily life.
“I still catch myself thinking, ‘He would’ve laughed at this’ or ‘I need to tell him that.’ Grief is weird like that. It doesn’t go away. You just learn to carry it differently,” she said in the post.
Addressing her late husband, whom she referred to as “B”, Intan described him as her husband, best friend and the person she believed she would grow old with.
“And then one night you went to work, and that was it. No goodbye. No closure. Nothing. That part never gets easier,” she wrote.
Despite the pain, Intan said life has carried on for those left behind.
“But we’re still here. Still standing. Still going. And somehow, some way we’re okay,” she said, adding that she still misses him every day — in the quiet moments and the small things that remind her of him.
She also extended her thoughts to other families who lost loved ones aboard the ill-fated flight.
“To everyone who lost someone on MH370, I see you. I pray for you. We don’t talk about it every day, but we carry it every day,” she wrote.

Intan added that while the families have tried to move forward with their lives, the longing for answers has never faded.
“We’ve moved forward, but we haven’t let it go, and we still want answers,” she said.
Malaysia Airlines flight MH370, carrying 239 passengers and crew, disappeared on March 8, 2014, while en route from Kuala Lumpur to Beijing.
The Boeing 777 lost contact with air traffic control less than an hour after take-off.
Despite one of the largest and most complex aviation searches in history, the aircraft has never been found.
Investigations later suggested the plane deviated from its planned route and flew for several hours before ending in the southern Indian Ocean, though the exact cause of the disappearance remains unknown.
The incident remains one of aviation’s greatest mysteries, with families of those on board continuing to seek closure and answers more than a decade on. – March 8, 2026
