KUALA LUMPUR – Reconciliation efforts spearheaded by non-governmental organisations representing Muslim and Hindu communities demonstrate the maturity of Malaysians in prioritising dialogue over provocation, Human Resources Minister Datuk Seri R. Ramanan said.

“These efforts should not only be continued, but strengthened as a strong example that Malaysians will always choose unity,” he said in a statement today.

Ramanan also voiced full support for Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim’s resolute stance against attempts to incite racial and religious tensions, noting that such firmness is vital to safeguard the country’s peace.

“This peace must be grounded in respect, responsibility, and the values of the Malaysia Madani framework,” he added.

He emphasised that Malaysia’s strength lies in its diversity and warned against any attempts to sow division. “We must not allow any party to ignite the flames of division. This is the time for us to stand united to defend harmony, strengthen unity, and ensure the country continues to progress in a peaceful and stable environment,” Ramanan said.

Yesterday, 30 NGO representatives from Malay and Indian communities convened under the Harmoni MADANI programme for a reconciliation session aimed at finding common ground and addressing issues affecting both communities in a constructive and comprehensive manner. – March 19, 2026
