KUALA LUMPUR – The government will maintain the BUDI MADANI Diesel (BUDI Diesel) assistance at RM300 per month for April, providing support to citizens amid ongoing global energy market volatility.

The Finance Ministry (MoF) said in a statement today that an additional interim payment of RM100 will continue, keeping the total assistance for BUDI Individual and BUDI Agri-Commodity recipients at RM300, Bernama reported.

“The aid will be distributed starting 8 April, benefiting approximately 340,000 recipients with an allocation of about RM102 million,” the statement said.

MoF added that Prime Minister and Finance Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim emphasised that the initiative reflects the government’s concern for cost-of-living pressures following the rise in global fuel prices.

“This measure is implemented by the government to ensure diesel users, particularly individuals and the agri-commodity sector, continue to receive support and are protected from being fully exposed to increases in global market prices,” the statement said.

Since its launch in May 2024, the BUDI Diesel programme has distributed a total of RM1.12 billion in cash aid to ease the financial burden on recipients.

The statement noted that the targeted approach is intended to ensure assistance reaches those who truly need it, while maintaining the country’s fiscal discipline amid ongoing global pressures.

In addition to the interim aid, MoF said the government is considering medium- and long-term measures to ensure the subsidy system remains sustainable, transparent, and continues to benefit the public.

“The government continues to closely monitor developments in the global energy market and is ready to take immediate additional measures to ensure supply remains stable and sufficient.

“Enforcement will also be strengthened to curb abuse and ensure subsidies reach the intended groups,” the statement added.

Eligible individuals can apply for BUDI Diesel throughout the year via the official website at https://budidiesel.gov.my – March 31, 2026
