KUALA LUMPUR — Commuters on the Kelana Jaya LRT line suffered yet another delay this morning due to a faulty platform switch at the Universiti station, RapidRail said.
The situation was restored at 7.21am but had forced passengers to use an alternative shuttle train between the Universiti and Abdullah Hukum stations.
To facilitate repairs, one side of the rail was closed as trains from Gombak had to turn back at the Abdullah Hukum station, while trains from Putra Heights had to turn back at the Universiti station.
In a later statement, Rapid Rail, service on the Kelana Jaya line was back to normal from 7.21am after repair work and testing was completed.
It said the faulty switch incident had occurred at 5.57 am.
RapidRail said its engineering and operation teams will continue to monitor the trains service to ensure no further disruptions.
The Kelana Jaya LRT line has been beset with various problems causing service disruptions in recent times.
Besides technical issues due to aging trains, fallen branches or passengers falling off the platform and on to the tracks have caused service disruptions.
Last month, following orders from Transport Minister Anthony Loke, Prasarana Malaysia Bhd said it had submitted a recovery plan to the ministry to address repeated disruptions on the Kelana Jaya LRT line. – April 13, 2026
