KUALA LUMPUR – Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) will slash security deposit rates for concerts, stage and cultural performances starting May 1, in a move to support the extension of Visit Malaysia 2026 to 2027.

Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Federal Territories) Hannah Yeoh said the revised rates are aimed at encouraging more organisers to bring events to the capital.

“For local artistes, deposits for stage or cultural performances will be reduced from RM10,000 to RM4,000, while concerts are set at RM10,000,” she told reporters after attending the Arts, Live Festivals and Events Association (ALIFE) Malaysia.

She added that foreign artistes will also benefit from lower deposits.

“For foreign artistes, the deposit for stage and cultural performances is reduced from RM30,000 to RM8,000, and concerts from RM30,000 to RM15,000,” she said.

Yeoh stressed that the initiative reflects Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim’s call for ministries to work together in driving national agendas.

“We will attract more event organisers to organise programmes, concerts and activities in Kuala Lumpur,” she said.

Meanwhile, Economic Affairs Minister Akmal Nasrullah Mohd Nasir announced that the Visit Malaysia 2026 campaign will be extended to 2027 to give the international tourism market time to recover. The government is targeting 47 million foreign tourists and RM329 billion in tourism revenue. – April 22, 2026
