Probe alleged foreign political funding, national security at stake: PKR Youth

Party urges PDRM, MACC, and Bank Negara to investigate claims of foreign-backed efforts influencing domestic politics

KUALA LUMPUR – PKR Youth (AMK) has urged the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) and the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) to launch an immediate investigation into claims of foreign funding aimed at shaping domestic political narratives.

PKR Youth chief Muhammad Kamil Abdul Munim stressed that any inquiry must be independent and comprehensive, irrespective of the political affiliations of those involved, and should also include Bank Negara Malaysia and other security agencies, Bernama reported.

He said the principles of freedom and democracy should not be exploited to justify the use of foreign funds for political activities that could compromise national security and sovereignty.

“AMK views seriously the recent revelations regarding alleged foreign funding channelled to politicians, individuals and certain organisations, believed to be used to drive political propaganda, cyber operations and street provocations under the guise of democracy and human rights.

“Any movement that receives and misuses foreign funding to systematically shape domestic political narratives must be investigated thoroughly and transparently, without compromise,” he said in a statement today.

Muhammad Kamil added that AMK is calling for strict enforcement under existing legal provisions, including the Penal Code, the Anti-Money Laundering, Anti-Terrorism Financing and Proceeds of Unlawful Activities Act 2001 (AMLA), and the Societies Act 1966, if elements of security threats or money laundering are proven.

“In a time when the country is facing global economic challenges, we need political stability and strong institutional confidence. If the allegations are true, this is extremely dangerous as Malaysia cannot become a testing ground for foreign geopolitical powers through local proxies,” he said.

He also highlighted the public’s right to transparency, urging immediate action to show that the nation’s sovereignty cannot be undermined by any party.

Muhammad Kamil alleged that financial transactions involving a US-based organisation and a local company currently total more than RM1.5 million. – May 17, 2026
