KUALA LUMPUR — Monash University Malaysia has confirmed that its Sunway City campus is safe and has resumed normal operations today following a reported bomb threat last night.
In a statement on the university’s Facebook page, it said the Subang Jaya District Police Headquarters (IPD Subang Jaya) had confirmed that the situation is now under control.
“Last night, the university responded to a security alert regarding a possible bomb threat on campus.
“Following a thorough security inspection, the Subang Jaya District Police Headquarters confirmed that the situation is fully under control and that the Sunway City campus is safe to resume normal operations today,” it said.
However, the university stated that the Monash Clinical School Johor Bahru (CSJB) will remain closed until further notice.
“We would like to thank our staff, students and visitors for their cooperation and support throughout the incident,” it added.
Last night, through a notice shared by the university’s student association on Instagram, students and staff were instructed to evacuate the campus temporarily.
The campus was subsequently closed for several hours, with access to campus buildings restricted until further notice.
Speculation had circulated that the university had received a bomb threat, and netizens also reported a police presence on campus. – June 5, 2026
