KUALA LUMPUR — Bersatu will be invited to the next Perikatan Nasional (PN) supreme council meeting, and due process according to the coalition’s constitution will be followed now that PAS has ended political cooperation with it, PN information chief Tan Sri Annuar Musa said.
Dismissing rumours of a PN supreme council meeting tonight which Bersatu president Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin claimed he was not invited to, Annuar said no such meeting had been planned.
“When the time comes, a notice for the meeting will be issued according to the rules to all council members, including those representing Bersatu.
“Bersatu’s leadership should calm down. Don’t jump the gun,” Annuar said in response to Muhyiddin’s remarks last night that Bersatu had not been invited to any discussion on meeting.
Muhyiddin had also said Bersatu would proceed with its candidates for the upcoming Johor and Negeri Sembilan state elections, and was ready to go head-to-head against PAS.
Bersatu remains insistent that it will not leave PN, even though PAS has stopped political cooperation with it.
Annuar said that despite PAS’ decision, it cannot act unilaterally.
“There are procedures to follow within PN and these should not be rushed. Many aspects of the law need to be examined. We need to take into account other members (of PN) especially the Malaysian Indian Peoples’ Party (MIPP) and Gerakan. PAS cannot do what it wants.”
Following Bersatu’s leadership meeting last night, Muhyiddin claimed the party’s representatives had not been informed about a PN supreme council meeting scheduled for tonight.
He said Bersatu was pressing ahead with its own candidates for the Johor election and would still use the PN logo, as it was not leaving the coalition.
This prompted a rebuttal from PAS vice-president Datuk Mohd Amar Nik Abdullah who told Bersatu to leave PN if it planned to contest against PAS. – June 17, 2026
