KUALA LUMPUR – Negeri Sembilan Pakatan Harapan (PH) chairman Datuk Seri Aminuddin Harun has rejected claims that he is turning his back on Sikamat, insisting that his decision to contest the Linggi state seat was made to continue serving the people.

In a Facebook post today, Aminuddin said he remained grateful to the voters of Sikamat, who had placed their trust in him for four terms since 2008.

“I am not running away from Sikamat.”

“From being an opposition representative to being entrusted with the responsibility of Menteri Besar of Negri Sembilan, I have always stood with the people of Sikamat,” he said.

Aminuddin said Sikamat was where he received his first political mandate and had remained a constant source of support throughout his journey in politics.

He described his relationship with residents there as one that had grown beyond the usual ties between an elected representative and constituents, saying they had become like family.

“Every time I return to Sikamat, I never feel as though I am attending an official programme. Instead, it feels like I am returning to my own hometown. My wife and children have also become very close to the community there,” he added.

Aminuddin said he was confident that his political secretary, Nor Azman Mohamad, would continue to carry the responsibility of serving the Sikamat community.

“My message is simple, take good care of Sikamat. Love its people as I have loved them,” he said.

On his move to contest in Linggi, Aminuddin stressed that the decision was made voluntarily and reflected his commitment to continue contributing to the people.

“My decision to contest in the Linggi state constituency is entirely my own choice. I want to continue serving and contributing to the community in Linggi.

“God willing, if I am given the trust and victory by the people, I will work even harder, with greater determination and to the best of my ability for the wellbeing of all residents of the Linggi constituency,” he said.

Aminuddin’s remarks followed PH’s announcement of its candidates on Tuesday, which saw him named as the coalition’s candidate for Linggi in the upcoming Negeri Sembilan state election. – July 16, 2026
