KUALA LUMPUR — The free travel period for the Light Rail Transit 3 (LRT3) Shah Alam Line has been extended until Aug 14, allowing more commuters to experience the newly launched service.
Rapid KL, in a statement posted on its Facebook page, said the extension was aimed at giving the public more time to familiarise themselves with the new public transport system connecting Petaling Jaya, Shah Alam and Klang, Bernama reported.
“Throughout the extended period, the public can enjoy free rides on the LRT3 Shah Alam Line, including feeder bus services and Park N’ Ride facilities at the participating stations.
“This will further encourage the use of public transport as the preferred option for daily journeys,” the statement read.
Rapid KL said it hoped the extension would benefit more users by helping reduce daily commuting costs while boosting public confidence in the efficiency and convenience of the country’s public transport system.
“Members of the public are encouraged to take advantage of this opportunity by planning their journeys in advance and complying with all rules and guidelines set to ensure safe and smooth travel,” it said.
On June 28, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim announced free fares for all passengers using the LRT3 Shah Alam Line from June 29 until July 31 during the launch ceremony held at the LRT Johan Setia Depot in Klang. – July 31, 2026
