KUALA LUMPUR – The Registrar of Societies Malaysia (RoS) has confirmed that all activities of Perikatan Nasional (PN) are currently suspended.
In a statement, RoS said the suspension order took effect yesterday and was issued under Subsection 13(2A) of the Societies Act 1966 (Act 832).
“The notice is intended to request Perikatan Nasional to provide an explanation regarding the complaint lodged by Bersatu with RoS, and the notice is not a decision to cancel its registration.
“The suspension order is intended to safeguard the interests of the organisation from continuing to violate its rules.
“RoS urges all parties to refer to official information issued by the department and to avoid speculation or the dissemination of unverified information that could cause confusion among the public,” it said, according to media reports.
Yesterday, several media outlets reported on a screenshot purportedly showing a letter from RoS cancelling PN’s registration.
The notice, dated September 22, 2026, was said to give the PN chairman 30 days to submit representations to RoS.
Previously, RoS confirmed that it had received an official complaint from Bersatu, including an allegation that the party had not been involved in the PN Supreme Council meeting on July 16.
Bersatu president Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin also said that the party had raised eight key issues that it alleged had been breached and disregarded by the current PN leadership.
Meanwhile, its secretary-general, Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali, last night confirmed receiving a notice from RoS seeking an explanation regarding PN’s status but declined to comment further.
Azmin said Bersatu would examine the contents of the notice before making any further statement. – September 24, 2026
