KUALA LUMPUR – Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has confirmed he has not yet received Transport Minister Anthony Loke’s resignation letter following Loke’s decision to quit the Cabinet.
“Wait for the resignation letter,” Anwar said briefly when pressed by reporters on Loke’s exit plan.
Anwar was speaking after attending the Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) Alumni Gathering with the Prime Minister at the university’s Dewan Agung Tuanku Canselor today.
Loke offered to resign following a DAP Central Executive Committee (CEC) meeting on Sept 19 in response to the conditional pardon granted to former Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak. The Seremban MP previously stated he would officially tender his resignation upon returning to Malaysia from China.
RoS freezes Perikatan Nasional activities
Addressing a separate political flashpoint regarding the Registrar of Societies (RoS) order suspending all Perikatan Nasional (PN) activities ahead of the upcoming Melaka state election, Anwar directed queries to the Home Minister.
“Refer to Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail,” Anwar said.
The RoS suspension order took effect on Sept 23 under Subsection 13(2A) of the Societies Act 1966, following a formal notice issued to PN on Sept 22. – September 26, 2026
