KUALA LUMPUR – The government aims to extend 4G coverage to all Orang Asli villages next year as part of efforts to bridge the digital divide, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim announced when tabling Budget 2027 at the Dewan Rakyat today.

The initiative will also expand internet connectivity along 7,000km of roads and 1,700km of railway lines, alongside the implementation of the MADANI Submarine Cable (SALAM) initiative.

Anwar said the RM5 billion National Digital Network (Jendela) project was strengthening the country’s connectivity infrastructure.

The government has already provided Wi-Fi coverage across all public university campuses, while 4G services have been extended to all Felda settlements.

The latest measures are aimed at bringing more communities, including those in remote areas, into the digital network while improving connectivity for road and rail users. – October 9, 2026
