KUALA LUMPUR – Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has dismissed talk of cracks within his administration, clarifying that differing views across ministries do not point to a divided government.
Instead, Anwar framed the varied approaches as part of healthy policy deliberations and discussions that factor in respective jurisdictions, responsibilities, and priorities to drive the Madani agenda forward.
The government systematically coordinates between ministries to align policies, avoid overlapping roles, and ensure all decisions reflect public interest, development priorities, and fiscal capacity.
“To ensure effective governance, every government policy and decision must undergo proper deliberation and coordination,” said Anwar, who also serves as Finance Minister.
“Matters requiring a collective decision will be tabled for Cabinet consideration and approval, in line with the principle of collective ministerial responsibility.”
Anwar’s explanation came via a written parliamentary reply published today, responding to a query from Opposition Leader Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainudin (PN-Larut).
Hamzah pressed the prime minister over recent public discrepancies in stances taken by the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Rural and Regional Development.
In response, Anwar pledged that the administration will keep bolstering inter-ministerial cooperation, tightening policy execution, and tracking initiative outcomes so decisions translate into tangible and sustainable benefits on the ground.
The Prime Minister also noted that national economic performance is tracked continuously using current indicators to gauge policy effectiveness and fortify economic resilience amid global headwinds. – October 30, 2026
