KUALA LUMPUR — The Attorney-General’s Chambers (AGC) has denied any interference in the return of former Border Control and Protection Agency (AKPS) director-general Datuk Seri Mohd Shuhaily Mohd Zain to the Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM).
Attorney-General Tan Sri Mohd Dusuki Mokhtar said his office was only responsible for providing legal advice, and that Shuhaily’s reassignment was an administrative matter for the Home Ministry (KDN).
“We have not given an official opinion because it has not been referred to AGC, it is just an administrative action by KDN, so we will not interfere in that.
“Whether Datuk Mohd Shuhaily wants to stay there or be transferred back to the PDRM, we will not interfere… that is more of an administrative matter,” Dusuki told reporters, Bernama reports.
He was speaking after the Opening Ceremony of the Handover of the Kampung Angkat MADANI (KAM) AGC 2026 Recreational Infrastructure at Taman Pinggiran Warisan, Kampung Kok Lanas in Kota Baru Kelantan, today.
On October 29, Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail announced Shuhaily ’s return to duty with PDRM, although his new post has yet to be determined.
Saifuddin Nasution also clarified that Shuhaily’s posting to AKPS had been a secondment from the police force.
Shuhaily is currently facing charges of causing injury to two police personnel, to which he has pleaded not guilty.
The charges were brought under Section 323 of the Penal Code, which carries a penalty of up to one year’s imprisonment, a fine of up to RM2,000, or both upon conviction.
Shuhaily has posted bail of RM1,500 for each charge, and case mention will be at the Sepang Magistrate’s Court on November 25. – October 31, 2026
