KUALA LUMPUR – PKR Youth chief Adam Adli Abdul Halim has temporarily declined Muda president Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman’s invitation to a debate on issues experienced by the youth in the country.
In a tweet today, Adam, who is also deputy youth and sports minister, said while the debate would be “interesting” and a good platform to address related matters, the focus at the moment should be on state election candidates.
“I suggest that, in conjunction with the state elections, we give our new candidates a chance to debate.
“Focus on their voice; let them get more exposure than us, who already have an advantage in terms of attention from the community and media.”
He added that matters between youth leaders can be settled after the elections in six states have been completed, saying that the “perimeters” of the debate can be set at a later time.
According to a report by Sinar Harian today, PAS Youth chief Ahmad Fadhli Saari has accepted Syed Saddiq’s invitation to debate and is in the process of working out a time and date for a discussion to be held.
Yesterday, Syed Saddiq suggested that during the debate, he would represent Muda and electoral partner Parti Sosialis Malaysia; Adam could represent the Pakatan Harapan and Barisan Nasional alliances; and Fadhli for Perikatan Nasional. – August 4, 2023
