KUALA LUMPUR – Veteran Malaysian pop punk band One Buck Short has sparked excitement among fans with the release of U Mobile’s Hari Raya festive film, Pita Hati, which serves as a teaser for the band’s first single in over a decade.

The highly anticipated single, also titled Pita Hati, is featured as the official soundtrack of the heartwarming short film, produced in collaboration with Mojo Films and Mediabrands Creative Studio (MBCS).

The film stars rising talents Shasha Abedul and Hafeez Mikail in a poignant narrative that underscores the resilience of the human spirit.

As the film unfolds, viewers are treated to snippets of One Buck Short’s latest musical offering, enhancing the emotional depth of the story. The teaser has left fans eagerly awaiting the full release of the single, scheduled to debut at the end of April 2024.

One Buck Short bassist Izal Azlee expressed the band’s excitement at teasing their long-awaited comeback single through the film.

“Their passion for supporting us was what convinced us to be a part of this,” Azlee said in a statement, referring to the collaborative effort between U Mobile, Mojo Films, and MBCS.

He lauded the film’s ability to complement the band’s music, creating a seamless fusion of visuals and sound.

“We are touched by their support, and we will forever be appreciative of this opportunity. It’s unbelievable how the film and the music complement each other,” Izal said.

“The mood, tone, and emotions in this film further enhanced our track. The Mojo magic is evident through and through. This would have to be the best teaser for our single that’s coming out later this month.”

Barney Chua, founder and director of Mojo Films, praised the synergy between the film and One Buck Short’s music.

“As we go through the month of Ramadan, our film delves into the themes of perseverance and sacrifice, virtues that this sacred month amplifies. Pita Hati is more than a story; it tells the journey of an endless quest to accept our destinies while mustering the courage to shape them.

“The characters of Nurul and Azman are brought to life with remarkable depth by the wonderful Shasha Abedul and the incredible Hafeez Mikhail.

“Their performances were so genuine and profound that the boundary between art and real life began to blur.

“Through their portrayal, they captured the raw humanity of their characters – flaws, strengths, and all. It’s this authenticity that elevates Pita Hati beyond just a film; it becomes a mirror reflecting the complex beauty of human resilience.”

Stanley Clement, chief executive officer of MBCS, echoed the sentiments of collaboration, highlighting the authenticity and depth of the film’s narrative. He emphasised the significance of Pita Hati in capturing the essence of resilience and hope, resonating with audiences during the festive season.

“This film was a true collaborative effort with U Mobile, MBCS, and Barney from Mojo, and we’re very pleased to be able to bring this to life together. The script was inspired by a true story, and in watching this film, one can’t help but be drawn into the story of Nurul and Azman,” he said.

“Life threw them a major curveball, and yet the genuine values of Raya – devotion, faith, and hope – shone through in a very special way. It gives us all a ray of hope to never give up, no matter the circumstance. With perseverance and love, we can get through the challenges that come our way.” – April 9, 2024
