KUALA LUMPUR – Future Sound Asia has confirmed the cancellation of the Good Vibes Festival (GVF), slated for July 20 and 21, in light of a letter issued by the Committee on Application for Filming and Performance by Foreign Artistes (Puspal).
In an email relayed to all festival goers, the organiser said the cancellation was in respect of the 17th Yang di-Pertuan Agong Sultan Ibrahim’s coronation ceremony on July 20, as large-scale performances involving international artists were not to be held on the date.
Noting that the festival has multiple international acts touring, the organiser said amending the dates was not an option, adding that refunds would be issued to all purchasers.
“Due to the nature of GVF, which involves multiple touring acts over multiple days, rescheduling the festival is not possible.
“As a result, Future Sound Asia is announcing the cancellation of the festival, originally scheduled for July 20 and 21. All ticket purchasers for GVF will automatically receive full refunds to the payment method used for their purchase.”
Earlier today, Puspal issued a statement advising all organisers of international acts to amend the dates of their concerts.
This is the second year in a row where GVF has faced issues, followed by the fiasco last year caused by Matty Healy, the lead singer of British band The 1975.
Healy expressed a profanity-laden speech during the band’s performance before kissing his male bandmate on the lips, which led to the whole festival being axed immediately. – July 1, 2024
