KUALA LUMPUR – Grab Malaysia recently honoured the triumphant Malaysian Olympic and Paralympic athletes for their outstanding performances in Paris, which inspired millions of Malaysians.

In a show of solidarity, mock cheques were presented to the medal winners to recognise their hard-fought achievements.

Apart from receiving a year’s worth of free GrabFood, gold, silver, and bronze medallists received 1 million, 500,000, and 250,000 GrabRewards points, respectively.

Separately, all 110 coaches and officials were also given RM100 GrabFood vouchers.

The event was more than just a celebration of the athletes. It also brought together Grab’s Persons with Disabilities (PWD) partners for a special meet-and-greet.

This interaction allowed the PWD partners to connect with national athletes, particularly paralympians, whose stories of perseverance and determination reflect their own experiences of overcoming adversity.

Supporting the PWD community is a key focus for Grab Malaysia, which has over 3,100 PWD partners across the region earning an income through its platform.

Adelene Foo, managing director of Grab Malaysia, expressed the company’s pride in supporting the athletes: “We are deeply honoured to present these rewards to our Malaysian athletes, who represented the nation with such pride at the 2024 Paris Olympics and Paralympics.

“Their remarkable performances have not only ignited inspiration in the hearts of Malaysians but have also deeply touched our PWD partners.

“The athletes’ stories of resilience serve as a powerful source of strength and motivation for our partners. We couldn’t be prouder to support them in their success.”

For Abdul Halim Hapiz, a Grab driver-partner, the event was particularly meaningful.

“It was a great privilege to meet these athletes and hear their stories. Their perseverance reminds us that, despite the obstacles, we can all strive for success and make our country proud,” he said.

Through this event, Grab Malaysia reaffirmed its commitment to supporting communities across the country, including its partners and the nation’s athletes. By championing initiatives like these, Grab aims to continue driving the nation forward and helping Malaysians achieve their dreams. – October 7, 2024
