Bryan’s successor to be announced by mid-February

KUALA LUMPUR — The Malaysia Swimming Federation (MAS) has identified a candidate for the role of national diving team technical director, following the departure of Bryan Nickson Lomas.

MAS secretary-general Andy Low said three individuals had expressed interest in the position after Bryan submitted his resignation on December 23.

“This time, we are prioritising local candidates and not considering foreign applicants. The (chosen) candidate is a former diver who has competed at the Olympics.

“We expect to announce the appointment by mid-February at the latest,” he told Bernama today.

Andy explained that opting for a local candidate would help maintain continuity within the national diving team.

“We are selecting local talent because they understand our culture and will have no issues adapting to our way,” he said.

Previously, it was reported that Bryan resigned after receiving a coaching offer from another Asian country. His final day with the national squad was January 22.

It is understood that the leading candidates for the role include Yeoh Ken Nee, Datuk Leong Mun Yee, and Ooi Tze Liang. — February 3, 2025
