KUALA LUMPUR — Malaysia Rugby (MR) has offered the Putrajaya and Negeri Sembilan teams a choice between paying a RM10,000 fine or facing suspension from the 2025 Agong’s Cup, following their withdrawal from last year’s tournament.
MR secretary-general Fahmy Abd Jalil said both teams were initially handed a one-year suspension and a RM10,000 fine for pulling out of the competition.
However, he said the governing body revised its decision yesterday after reviewing appeals from both teams seeking a reduction in penalties.
“Malaysia Rugby’s annual general meeting (AGM) received and considered appeals from the Negeri Sembilan and Putrajaya squads,” Fahmy told Bernama.
He added that MR has already sent invitation letters to state teams for the 2025 edition of the Agong’s Cup, which is expected to kick off in mid-August. — June 15, 2025
