KUALA LUMPUR – The Olympic Council of Malaysia (OCM) has created a shortlist of candidates for the roles of Chef de Mission (CDM) and deputy CDM for the upcoming SEA Games in Thailand this December.

OCM president Tan Sri Mohd Norza Zakaria said that the final decision will be made today after his meeting with Youth and Sports Minister Hannah Yeoh today.

“The current focus is on logistics since the SEA Games will take place in three different locations – Songkhla, Chonburi, and Bangkok. We are considering appointing one CDM along with several deputies,” he stated during an interview yesterday.

“We will review three or four candidates, which will include an OCM administrator, a former athlete, and representatives from the National Sports Associations (NSAs),” he added.

Previously, the National Sports Council (NSC) urged OCM to expedite the appointments of the CDM, deputy CDMs, and team managers for the Thailand SEA Games.

NSC director-general Jefri Ngadirin emphasized that making these appointments early is essential for effective planning and coordination with NSAs and other stakeholders.

Norza also suggested that a new design might be introduced for the national team’s official attire at the biennial Games. He indicated that OCM would collaborate with the NSC to finalise an appropriate outfit design for the national contingent. – June 24, 2025
