KUALA LUMPUR – Former Harimau Malaya star Norshahrul Idlan Talaha has broken his silence over a long-standing wage dispute, revealing that he has yet to receive six months of unpaid salary from Melaka United dating back to 2022.
Speaking to Scoop, the 38-year-old expressed his disappointment, saying his attempts to resolve the matter with the relevant parties have been ignored despite the court order after he won the case in 2023.
“I worked but was not paid my salary. When I asked for help, no one wanted to help, as if I had never contributed anything to the state of Melaka.
“Remember, life is like a wheel – what goes around comes around. I will never forgive this debt. Debts must be repaid,” he said when contacted.
Norshahrul, also known as Mat Yo, said he was puzzled by a transaction for his Employees Provident Fund (EPF) contribution made by “certain parties” in July 2025, despite his salary still not being paid.
“I won the case in court, yet no one wants to take responsibility. What’s strange is that the EPF contribution was paid in July 2025, but my salary still hasn’t been paid.
“Who made that transaction? It’s wrong to mistreat people. I worked but wasn’t paid,” he added.
The three-time Most Valuable Player (MVP) at the National Football Awards has played for several local clubs, including Kelantan, Johor Darul Ta’zim (JDT), Sarawak United, and Melaka United, and also featured in the Thai League with BG Pathum United from 2020 to 2021.
Scoop will reach out to Melaka United’s management for further comments on the matter. – September 25, 2025
