Police will screen all childcare workers registered with the Social Welfare Department as a part of the new standard operating procedure to ensure the safety of children at registered childcare centres in the country.
Sexual abuse of minors was the highest of all 5,216 cases of child abuse as of August this year, the Women, Family and Community Development Ministry said.
The Women, Family and Community Development Ministry will make it compulsory for nursery operators to contact parents if their child is absent to prevent accidental deaths of children left in cars.
