6,034 new contract teachers assigned to schools nationwide: MoE

According to the Education Ministry, the placement of new contract of service teachers is based on three fundamental principles, namely the service’s interest, vacant positions, and the school’s current option or subject requirements.

3,038 schools under-enrolled, have less than 150 pupils: MoE

Deputy Education Minister Wong Kah Woh said that even though the schools were categorised as under-enrolled, none would be closed. 

Teaching degree scheme to be opened to STPM, STAM, matriculation graduates

The Education Ministry will extend the intake of candidates for the bachelor of teaching degree programme to include STPM, STAM and Matriculation Programme graduates starting this year

Overcrowded schools: MoE formulating long, short-term solutions, says minister
