The Malaysian Indian Transformation Unit (Mitra) is returning to the purview of the Prime Minister’s Department after being under the National Unity Ministry, according to Communications Minister Fahmi Fadzil.
National Unity Minister Datuk Aaron Ago Dagang added that the administration of the board has been under the state government since independence, and its chairman has been appointed by the state executive council, with the consent of the Penang Yang Dipertua Negeri till now.
The prime minister stressed that the Indian community need not worry about the administration of Mitra being placed under a different ministry because regulations have been established, allocations approved, and the unit is still subject to stringent conditions to prevent any abuse of power or misconduct.
National Unity Minister Datuk Aaron Ago Dagang believes that the relaunch of the Merdeka Tournament is a perfect platform to unite Malaysians through football.
