Half-month bonus for Penang civil servants: Chow

Payment involves 3,867 civil servants and a financial implication of over RM6 million

GEORGE TOWN – As an appreciation and recognition of civil servants in the state, the Penang state government has approved a Special Financial Assistance (BKK) payment amounting to half a month’s pay or a minimum of RM1,000.

Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow said the payment involves 3,867 civil servants in the state and a financial implication of RM6.045 million.

“The state government is very lucky to have such a lineup of civil servants, who are dedicated, have integrity and are committed to ensuring the state government’s policies are successfully implemented,” he said when tabling the state’s Budget 2024 at the state assembly sitting, here today.

He also announced that RM300 per person would be channelled to teachers and supervisors of Al-Quran and Fardu Ain (Kafa) teachers, teachers of Sekolah Rendah Agama Rakyat, teachers of Sekolah Menengah Agama Rakyat and teachers and staff of Chinese private schools.

In addition, tahfiz teachers, guru pondok and Islamic kindergarten teachers in the state will also receive RM300 each, with payment to these groups involving an additional RM1.005 million. 

“The total BKK payment involves RM7.051 million and will be made in December,” he said. – November 24, 2023
