GEORGE TOWN – Penang Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow will consider extending the medical leave granted to Deputy Chief Minister II Jagdeep Singh Deo should the latter request for it.

Chow said he was informed by Jagdeep’s family members that the Datok Keramat assemblyman, who is currently undergoing treatment in Kuala Lumpur, is recovering and being monitored by his doctors.

He added that the state executive council had agreed in yesterday’s meeting to grant Jagdeep additional leave if needed.

Jagdeep is on a 11-day medical leave, which will end on August 5.

“Even before the (Jagdeep started the) leave, I have told (him) that I will consider a leave extension if needed so that he can undergo all treatments to aid in his recovery,” said Chow in a press conference held at his office in Komtar here.

The chief minister also said he will be visiting Jagdeep tomorrow.

Last month, Jagdeep was reported as saying that he had taken an 11-day medical leave starting July 22 for an ankle problem and psoriasis, a skin condition that causes flaky patches to appear across the body. – August 1, 2024
