SEREMBAN — The man who was arrested for punching a female driver whose car hit his wife and child is an armed forces personnel and has been released on police bail.

Seremban district police chief ACP Mohamad Hatta Che Din said the man was released yesterday, the same evening he was arrested over the assault on Jalan Persiaran Senawang 4 that was captured on video and posted on social media.

Mohamad Hatta told Bernama the suspect, aged 35, has been referred to Bukit Aman police headquarters as he is a civil servant.

The suspect had allegedly attacked the woman driver, 28, causing bruises to her right ribs and swelling at the back of her head.

She had failed to stop her car in time when the suspect’s wife, 34, and daughter, seven, suddenly stepped out to cross the road at night. Both the wife and daughter sustained minor injuries as a result of being hit by the car, and were taken to Tuanku Ja’afar Hospital for further treatment.

It is not clear when the incident occurred, but the viral video shows the suspect attacking the woman driver while she is still inside the car.

The victim, who drove a Perodua Axia, had been driving from Mydin Senwang to Senewang and apparently could not avoid the suspects wife and daughter, Mohamad Hatta said.

He also reminded pedestrians to be careful when crossing roads.

Those with information about the case can contact investigating officer Insp Mohd Khairul Aswad Mazlan at 011-10843873 or the nearest police station. — March 31, 2025
